When the Biblical account that we find in Genesis begins it says that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep…” The Bible points out that God created, but that His creation was chaotic. The creation was formless, void, and dark until God began to bring direction, organization, and order. So often we fall into the trap of believing that God’s solution for chaos is peace. I have found through a careful study of Genesis, that God’s solution for chaos isn’t peace - but instead order. God brings order to chaos, and He brings order to anxiety as well. This 30 Day Journey towards peace begins by accepting God’s divine order for your life.
Every time I read in Genesis that, "The Spirit of God was hovering over the great deep", I'm reminded that our God has always been calm in the face of chaos. This one verse is the anchor and center of gravity for this entire book.
